Setting a new trend, Anil Ambani led Reliance Group has appointed Jeurgen Hase as the CEO of its Internet of things (IoT) business unit. The IoT business unit of the group is working in areas like telecommunications, power, financial services, infrastructure and health care.
He will be based out of Reliance Group’s new head quarter at Reliance Center in Santacruz, Mumbai and will report to Group MD Amitabh Jhunjhunwala, the company said in a statement.
Juergen is believed to be an internet of things veteran with more than 25 years of experience in telecommunications industry. Before joining Reliance Group he served as Director of IoT and M2M business unit of Qatar based Ooredoo. In Ooredoo he was looking after the IoT and M2M business in Middle EAst, North Africa and South Africa. There, he worked in multiple industry verticals like automotive, healthcare, smart cities, telematics and energy.
Not only Ooredoo, Juergen had worked as vice president of the M2M Competence Center at Deutsche Telekom (DT) for over a decade. As one of the founders, he helped DT develop this unit as one of the leading global players in the field of IoT.
The group’s telecom arm Reliance Communications had already joined hands with Cisco Jasper to develop IoT solutions for multiple industry verticals. At the same time the company is also working on some pilot projects using internet of things in solutions like smart metering, smart cities, utilities, healthcare and automotive.
Juergen graduated at the Technical University in Germany with a major in Telecommunications, and has been an active board member of many global M2M associations such as Global M2M Alliance (GMA), International M2M Council (IMC) and M2M Alliance.
