MIT bred robotic firm iRobot has launched its latest vacuum cleaner Roomba 980 in India. The technology firm has partnered with India’s Puresight Systems to bring the robotic vacuum cleaner appointing the later as its exclusive distributor in the country.
Priced at Rs 69,900 the vacuum cleaner automatically cleans the house and is eqipped with thousands of sensors. These sensors can sense almost all aspects of a house like uneven floors, carpets, furniture and corners, and it maneuvers itself accordingly.
In a single charge the iRobot vacuum cleaner can clean upto 2 hours and is sufficient for house size of 1800 to 2000 sq yards. The new Roomba 980 combines adaptive navigation with visual localization to clean an entire level of a home, recharging and resuming as needed until the job is done.
Once the charge is over, the robotic cleaner automatically comes to its charging dock and put itself for charging. And once charged, it again goes back to complete the task, if required.
“iRobot’s new home robot will change the way we view floor cleaning and revolutionize home cleaning. We are bringing iRobot’s most capable and best cleaning vacuuming robot to date to India. We have a good knowledge of adoption and we know consumer satisfaction,” said Ayesha Khan of Puresight.
iRobot made its entry into Indian homes last year with an exclusive partnership with Puresight Systems, initially introducing the Roomba 600, 700 and 800 series vacuuming robots and the Braava 300 series floor mopping robot to the market.
Currently the company has two iRobot experience centers and a service center in Bangalore and is planning to expand to other major cities in the next 12-24 months.
