Reliance Jio, India’s newest 4G operator and who claims to be the world’s largest startup, has hired Ayush Sharma to look after its IoT business. He has joined Jio as Senior Vice President, Engineer and Technology.
Jio that revolutionised the consumer data consumption business in India and disrupted the telecom industry in just a year of its entry to the business is preparing itself to unleash its offerings for the enterprise business. The company is looking at offering solutions around security, smart cities, smart automation, industrial IoT and many such services in coming times.
Sharma’s induction is going to be a big boost for the company’s IoT venture.
Sharma’s LinkedIn profile says at Jio he is responsible for ‘technology development and deployment with focus on Mobile edge computing, distributed artificial intelligence, Massive MIMO, Narrowband IOT, Block chain and big control in enabling World’s largest programmable data network delivering intelligent services’.
Prior to joining Jio, Ayush Sharma – a technology veteran with more than 2 dacades of experience, was working with his own startup MotoJeannie based in California. There he was helping enterprises to pursue their digital transformation ambitions related to cloud and connectivity infrastructure with a special focus on connected transportation and industrial IOT verticals by leveraging the ‘Jeannie Platform’ and access to expertise in distributed artificial intelligence, Mobile edge cloud and blockchain technologies.
Before starting his own venture, Sharma had served as senior VP and CTO at Huawei Technologies and was based in Santa Clara. There he led advanced research, joint innovation, technology strategy, software engineering & product management of SDN & NFV technology platforms and services for both the carrier and enterprise business. He was also Managing a strategic large global group of professionals dedicated to new value creations using AI, 5G, AR, Blockchain and other digital technologies through advanced research program with leading academia, API development through developer ecosystem while leveraging open source & partner offerings.
Besides Huawei, Ayush Sharma has served many technology majors including Cisco, HP, Ericsson in leadership roles.
