Micromax, India’s only smartphone company to be among global top 10 brands, aims to deliver 100 million connected devices in next two years. At present the company produces smartphones, tablets, laptops and TVs, however, Micromax plans to increase its product portfolio by launching internet of things (IoT) enabled connected eevices in coming future.
“With our aim of achieving 100 million connected devices in the next two years, we want to make Micromax, the largest services company in India, consolidate our leadership position in overseas markets we are present as well as enter new markets,” Micromax founder Rahul Sharma said.
“Being a leader in our space we also strongly believe that it is on us to enable an ecosystem that eventually brings world class connected devices powered by relevant services at the convenience of consumers.”
Rahul was speaking at the company’s new brand launch event where the entire senior executive team of Micromax proposed to position the company among top 5 global brands by 2020.
In its new brandre-building exercise, what the company terms as ‘Micromax 3.0’, its CMO Shubhajit Sen said the company wants to be known as India’s largest services company. The company also wants to produce 100% of its devices in its local manufacturing plants in India. At present local manufactured products contribute 60% of its entire product portfolio.
