Cricket Legend Sachin Tendulkar Invests In IoT Startup Smartron

sachin_smartronGlobal sports icon and cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar has decided to invest in technology company Smartron. besides being a strategic partner to the company, the cricket legend will also be the global brand ambassador of the company that aims at bringing smart consumer devices like smartphones, tablets and some IoT enabled products.

Though the company has not launched any of its products in the Indian market so far, it has been working in stealth mode since 2014 and looks at bringing a slew of smart devices in the Q1 of FY2017.

Besides consumer devices, Smartron also plans to launch some enterprise products as well.

We need to support brands that are “designed and engineered in India” by our Entrepreneurs and Engineers that ably compete in the global markets. Besides sports, Sachin is known for his keenness for technology and cars.

Smartron is a Hyderabad based technology company co-founded by Mahesh Lingareddy who is also the CEO of Softmachines, a US-based semiconductor firm having operations in multiple countries like Russia, the US and India.

Late last year Smartron had partnered with Foxconn to start its local manufacturing in Andhra Pradesh, where it would manufacture products like tablets, smartphones and other IoT enabled devices.
