Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 India’s Best Selling Smartphone

xiaomi-redmi-note3The verdict came just now. That Xiaomi Redmi Note 3, the smartphone that was launched 5 months back, is India’s largest selling smartphone for any given quarter on online retail platforms. No other smartphone has sold more units in a certain period of 3 months compared to Redmi Note 3, research firm IDC says so.

The Chinese smartphone maker who came to India barely two years back has sold 1.75 million units of Redmi Note 3 in just five months.

According to IDC’s India Monthly Smartphone Tracker – June 2016 Release, “Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 is the single highest-shipped smartphone ever in the history of India’s online market in any given quarter.”

It said that the smartphone firm, headed by Manu Jain in India, has clocked record-breaking shipments of 880,000 units of Redmi Note 3 in the online channel in Q2 2016, almost twice the volume of the second highest-shipped smartphone in the online channel in India.

If we believe IDC, during that quarter, one out of every nine phones sold online was Xiaomi Redmi Note 3.

“Redmi Note 3 was not only the top selling model in online channel but also a star product for the vendor contributing to the majority of Xiaomi’s total shipments in Q2 2016,” said Karthik J , Senior Market Analyst, Client Devices, IDC India.

“It has been extremely encouraging to witness the overwhelming support for Redmi Note 3 in India, such that it has become the best-selling smartphone ever in the online market. We cannot thank our Mi Fans enough for such an incredible response and making this success possible for us. Our commitment towards Make in India has further acted as a catalyst in meeting the demand for our popular Redmi series. We are committed to sustaining the momentum and will continue to launch amazing products here in India,” said Manu Jain, Xiaomi’s India head.

The Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 was launched in March this year and was the first phone to be launched in India with Qualcomm Snapdragon 650 processor. This was also the first time that a sub Rs 10,000 phone came with a 4050mAh battery.
